Kindle, Book or Movie? It's The Story That Counts!

Watched a brilliant Western last night; True Grit, but the new version with Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Co. – fantastic. Actually watched the whole movie without falling asleep; for me that’s got to be some sort of record. Good old-fashioned adventure story – though looked upon by many literary establishments as ‘too out of sync with modern day interests’ to make the big time. Apparently, the general public isn’t interested in adventure anymore? Strange how the Indiana Jones movies stemmed from a revamp of Rider Haggard’s, King Solomon’s Mines. And what the hell, no one takes much notice of Caribbean pirates either (grin). Like I’ve said before, let the reader decide. I know where my own interests lay, with the good stuff – adventurous stuff, stories that have a beginning, middle and an end. Sort of the way things were before the dumbos came along and ‘fixed wot weren’t broke in the first place’.
So I say, roll out more adventure-driven roller-coaster reads, and as John Wayne and Jeff Bridges shouted to the bad guys in True Grit: ‘Fill your hands you son-of-a-bitch!’ Preferably with books or eReaders, matters not – though times are a changing. The Kindle has landed...
